"Stayed a night here whilst on a driving holiday. Hotel was really clean and well kept. Plenty of car parking. We had a buffet style evening meal which was good. Also breakfast was good, with all the usual choices. Would stay again if we went back to Basel."

"It was not bad to stay in a youth hostel for the first time. There is a young lady at the front desk during the day who is very enthusiastic. But when I returned to the hostel at ten o'clock in the evening, there was no one at the front desk. I called the service call and was answered by a man. The man's service attitude was not very good, he was very impatient, and he had no sense of service. The four-person all-female room I chose was pretty good, but there was only one USB plug on the bedside, which was not very convenient for charging. But overall it's quite clean and the equipment is relatively new."

"Be prepared to stay with people who live there forever. How lucky I was to stay at Basel Backpack Hostel, where there was a resident, and the worst part was that she didn't give a f….ck about the other seven people in the room. It's summer, 27-40 degrees Celsius, and there's one fan in the room. On the first night, the resident turned off the fan, and the next day she attacked me because she couldn't sleep. It's 40 degrees outside. Are you kidding me? That's not all; the resident became attached to a stray cat, and I mentioned that I was allergic. Days later, the cat was living in the room. I spoke with management, and it was very clear that the resident wasn't respecting the hostel's policy because you have to pay a fee to have a pet. She did whatever she wanted, and then the management removed the cat outside the room. The resident complained that if she couldn't have the stray cat in the room, the room for eight guests couldn't have a fan either, which seems absurd since when I booked the room, it included a fan. The manager removed the cat and the fan from the room. I felt like I had to choose between struggling to breathe or dying of heatstroke—worst experience."
