Having checked in our room was excellent and were soon on our way to the first class facilities Indoor Pool/Jacuzzi/Sauna/Gym etc. Then to the delightful Restaurant in the evening for a fantastic meal and good quality wine’s. Next Morning breakfast was of high quality The Hotel being set on it’s own little Island makes it very private with large Gardens Ample parking also a wonderful Terrace perfect for dining in nice weather. A short walk into the Town or only a twenty minute drive to lovely Honfleur. We can highly recommend this Hotel and cannot wait to return. Thank you Clive Taylor."

"When I first arrived and eventually checked into this hotel, I considered it to be a disaster. My view improved by the time I checked out, but I would still not choose this hotel again, mainly because I usually travel with luggage and they have no elevator, or luggage trolleys. I do not find any fault with the staff. They were as helpful as they could be with the facilities they had to work with. I arrived after 0200h in the morning. I had expected the hotel to be in Barentin town centre. In fact it is in a "centre commercial". This is the french term for a shopping complex. Note that shops in these french centres are frequently open on Sundays. Prices in these shops usually compare favourably with town centres. I should have been aware that it was in a centre commercial, because it had a "route nationale" address, so the information was correct on the Accor website. When I actually arrived at the hotel, the next problem was locating the entrance door. The hotel building is a rather featureless cube. I had expected the entrance door to be directly adjacent to their illuminated green Ibis sign. It wasn't. The entrance door was on a different face of the hotel. The reason I could not find it was because it was in total darkness and hidden behind a row of bushes. Apparently an electrical fault had disabled the lights in the car park at the time I arrived. The next problem was that my room was on the 3rd floor, I travel with a lot of luggage, and the hotel had no elevator. I was about to give up and find somewhere else, but the girl offered to move me to a room on the ground floor. In view of the number of times I had disturbed her sleep, I would have felt very bad about going somewhere else after her efforts to be helpful. It should be noted that at least some of the staff here live on the property. The hotel closes at night, but key staff are expected to be "on call". I had already disturbed this girl's sleep at least 4 times. When reception is closed, access to the hotel is gained by a 4 digit code. There is also a code for the hotel's parking area, but in event of overspill there is no apparent problem using the parking lot of an adjacent property. The rooms are not much bigger than what you would expect a Red Ibis hotel, although they are much smarter. Breakfast is a similar standard to what you would expect at a Red Ibis. At the time of my visit, breakfast was included in the room price. Coffee taken was also included, although is unavailable when reception is closed. I suspect that this is a relatively new hotel, and the building was not designed as such. I expect that the problems (including the lack of an elevator) will be resolved over time, following which the free breakfast will probably be withdrawn. The fact that the hotel is in a commercial shopping complex is actually quite convenient. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are 2 "fast food" restaurants adjacent to the hotel. "Beautiful setting. Our room (spa zen room) was large and nicely decorated. The large bath has only airflow, not a real spa; and there is no separate shower; so it's impossible to shower standing in the bath with only a short showerhead. One hatch window was missing: so there is early light leaking in. No airconditioning: so be aware in hot season ! Excellent breakfast. But only two espresso cups in the room for the whole stay (on that price level a refill daily should be standard). So in all: nice hotel; could improve a lot; and quiet expensive for what you get"

We extended one night but the rate was much more expensive (Sunday night). We should have booked it online rather at the reception. Hotel room is small and basic but clean tidy. Bed was comfortable. Shower cubicle gets all wet over the bathroom floor due to lack of shower curtain."

"The Chambres D'hotes Chateau Du Landin is one of the most unique experiences we have ever had in the any of chateaus we have stayed in over two specific chateau trips to France, and six trips in all. There are some really bad reviews here and some excellent ones that sing the chateaus praises. They cannot both be correct! The truth, as always is, lays somewhere in between. We will explain the good and not so good as unbiasedly as we can. You arrive at the chateau, and there is no one to greet you, You are seemingly on your own wondering what the hell is going on? There is no reception desk...just an elderly lady who will eventually realise you are there. She is doing the best she can with limited English. No problem, I speak barely remembered pidgin French, so everything will be ok. We got our room key....walked up a number of flights of spectacular stairs, that seem less exciting with each step we had to lug the luggage up. We eventually arrive to where our room is...and some renovation is happening outside it with bits of plaster and wood stacked up in the hallway outside the room. Okaay...the glossy photos on the online advertisements did not show any of this, nor was any mention made of it, We move along... We enter the room, and it is nice to very nice with a view over the valley. The bathroom was good, not great, but certainly not bad at all. The location was fantastic, being very close to the beautiful Normandy city of Rouen. A major selling point, as Rouen is fantastic. Back to the chateau...sleep was peaceful with no complaints there. We headed down for breakfast the next day...and there was no indication that breakfast was happening, where it was happening, and if had already happened without us! Finally, we bumped into an old lady (the only person who seemed to work there), and she sensed we were looking for breakfast and led us to a room with a nice table by the window. She really was a lovely old lady who made wonderful coffees (cappuccino and latte macchiato). She seemed overworked, and expected to deal with everything that came her way. A lovely old soul who did her best in what must be trying circumstances. The highlight of our stay was the horses in the grounds which was uplifting. Value for money? Absolutely not. The chateau charges 5 star Chateau Hotel rates, yet delivers a barely passable bed and breakfast that other chatelaines do so much better with personal Gallic charm. We were glad we stayed here, as the chateau has a lot going for it it (urgent renovation required notwithstanding) but there is nothing that would compel us to stay again. You should stay here at least once in your life, because the chateau does have some wonderful qualities (that valley view is to die for), just temper your expectations."
