"Stay away from this hotel! The hotel rooms isn’t what’s pictured on booking sites, the entrance is through a forest on a mountain and through other buildings. The walls is stained, door is leaking, and the room are nasty. The entrance pathway crumbled under me so a nail went through my foot and got several scratches. It is NOT a hotel, not even a bungalow. I would rather sleep with the homeless dogs than stay there one night. We checked out 30 minutes after we checked in. At least the manager was nice enough to give a full refund and drive us to another hotel."

"I'm writing this review some time later, but I stayed at Laksmis Hotel for a 'big' birthday weekend back in March. Although I made a very last minute booking, the place was very clean and comfortable with a lovely breakfast. It was great value compared to some of the other local hotels and conveniently located for the local bars and restaurants, although (like many places in Ella) there's a bit of a steep walk to reach it. Most of the staff contact I has was with Rashan, who extremely friendly and helpful. I'd certainly recommend this place and would definitely stay again next time I visit Ella."

"The room was adequate. However the room was sold as a garden view and this is not the case. The toilet also has very poor drainage so is constantly wet and stinks of drains which the mosquitos love! We also paid for breakfast and were sold the room on trip as having breakfast included when we spoke to the manager about this he said we must pay extra and was incredibly defensive and unhelpful. The location is close to main road however this does mean you will hear loud music until about 11 which is understandable."

"What's great: The host's hospitality was so invaluable that we felt right at home, like we were staying with the kindest and most sincere relatives. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including an iron, heater, kettle, and clothes dryer. The hotel doesn't have the frills of a modern hotel (it doesn't have the latest renovations or luxurious interiors), but it's clear they care about the comfort of their guests. This was primarily because we checked in a day after our reservation. Unfortunately, we were caught in the middle of a cyclone with torrential rain on our way from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. However, the host personally greeted us at the door and asked his kitchen manager to stay late for us and prepare a meal. Although we were well past our scheduled breakfast time, the staff politely waited, allowing us, wet and cold, to take a hot shower and change. Then a young worker served our breakfast and immediately helped us carry our bags to our room. On the day we couldn't check in on time, they contacted us and offered to help us get to our destination safely. Rented bikes left us with little choice but to accept their help, though their offer was invaluable. Ultimately, the hotel staff treated us with understanding and care. Therefore, Duet Hearts truly holds a place in our hearts for warm and heartfelt memories. Breakfast is simple, but you'll definitely not go hungry before exploring the city. It's conveniently located for walking routes in Ella: there's access to the tourist streets, and we walked to the Nine-Arched Bridge ourselves, without using a taxi. Cons: The access road to the hotel is bumpy, with washed-out soil and gravel in places. Be careful in rainy weather, but it's perfectly possible to drive there, with a driver, or on foot. The hotel grounds aren't exactly luxurious, but this didn't stop us from admiring the jungle from the second floor. We felt cozy, peaceful, and huggy at Duet Hearts, despite being subjected to nonstop wet weather. We definitely recommend visiting."

"Very good place to stay with awesome views. The staff took great care off us. Only downside to gaving good views the location is quite far from the city centre. So pick me and uber drivers won't take any rides since the app prices are way cheaper so no choice but to pay tourist fares. Room as an electric fan but AC would have been nice."
