This means that services are unable to operate between these stations. Trains will either be cancelled in full, or revised to not run between Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on Sunday 16 November. A visual disruption map video is now available. Customer advice: Limited rail replacement transport is in place. Taxis and coaches will shuttle between Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple until further notice. These services will call at Crediton, Copplestone, Morchard Road, Eggesford and Umberleigh in both directions. Please see station staff for more information. For any passengers at any intermediate stations, please use the help point and road transport will be arranged. You may use your ticket, at no extra cost, on Stagecoach South West bus services on the following routes: Route 5 between Exeter Central, Newton St Cyres and Crediton. Route 5A between Exeter bus station, Newton St Cyres (Belluno), Crediton, and Copplestone. Route 5B between Exeter bus station and Barnstaple. (please note the journey time is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes). Route 5C between Exeter bus statio), Newton St Cyres, Crediton, Copplestone, Morchard Road, and Lapford. Additional information: Network Rail’s remote monitoring equipment detected water exceeding the threshold for closure at three bridges and viaducts, triggering an automatic closure of the Barnstaple branch line for the safety of all customers. Network Rail will need to deploy specialist diving teams to inspect the affected structures once water levels recede before services can safely resume. Great Western Railway will restore the service as soon as it is safe to do so but with heavy rain expected on Friday, the closure is likely to continue until Sunday at least.

The poor weather is expected to cause disruption to services running on various routes across the Northern network. Please check your entire journey in full before you travel. Current weather related disruptions: There have been reports of flooding at various locations between Carlisle and Whitehaven. The poor weather has caused multiple signalling faults and a potential landslip. Network Rail engineers are on site. Trains between Carlisle and Maryport / Whitehaven will be cancelled. You cannot travel by train between Carlisle and Whitehaven in either direction. Due to adverse road conditions, rail replacement buses will not be provided. Future service amendments: Today, Friday 14 November, the following routes will be severely disrupted with trains being revised, cancelled or delayed: Hull and Halifax. Middlesborough and Battersby. Sheffield and Doncaster (from 16:00 on Friday 14 November, trains will not call at Rotherham Central in either direction). Manchester Victoria and Blackburn via Todmorden / Blackburn via Bolton / Headbolt Lane via Wigan Wallgate. Manchester Oxford Road / Wigan Wallgate and Southport. Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport / Hadfield / Rose Hill Marple / New Mills Central / Buxton / Chester via Altrincham / Crewe / Stoke-On-Trent. Blackpool North and Manchester Airport. Barrow-In-Furness and Carlisle / Lancaster. Macclesfield and Stoke-On-Trent. Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley. Liverpool Lime Street and Wigan North Western. Leeds and Skipton / Ilkley / Bradford Forster Square. Today some services will terminate and restart at Bradford Interchange. There will be a reduced number of trains calling at Low Moor and Halifax. Northern advise to avoid travelling if you can. Trains are running, but major disruption is expected. Please check before you travel. Due to adverse road conditions, rail replacement buses will not be provided. Ticket easements and acceptance: Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once disruption ends. Additionally, you may use your ticket at no extra cost on Avanti West Coast services between Carlisle and Lancaster in both directions until the end of the day.
