City Backpackers Hostel

Reception closed at 8pm. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not really good ventilation in the room. Overall, it deserves the cost.

The living environment is nice . The staff is helpful and friendly.

The hostel is very cozy, clean and central. To open every door you need a code that change everyday! I got mad! And for the people that arrive late in the night, it’s so hard to prepare the bed (since you have to prepare it by yourself with mandatory linen that you have to book in the hostel!). And since the plan of the hostel is very hard to remember they should put more floor plan around the hostel. I got lost a lot of Times.

Nice staff, clean rooms, good facilities, near the city center. Everything went smoothly. The central station also 10 minutes walk, so easy the commute to the airport. The kitchen was good, but I didnt use it. There is a free sauna option which is good on cold days. I stayed in a 8 beds room, the bed was comftable.

The worker on the phone was polite while communicating what went wrong with the booking, but the policies this Hostel uses are horrible. I made a reservation and got charged the booking fee (so reservation was set), the hostel charged me the full price later, which my account flagged as unknown so it didn't go through, I later received an email that this meant my reservation was cancelled and I lost the reservation money.... I could not make a new reservation/work it out with the worker, just a massive f*ck you hostel got money without giving a sleeping place in return...

City Backpackers Hostel is overall very good. It is located on the main street, about 10 minutes walk from Central Station. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hostel is kind of a maze when you first arrive. There's little signage and everything is all over the place. However, you'll soon get used to it. Even though my room was facing the common area, I found it was quite quiet. Although at night the room was very hot, and in the morning very cold. Also, the kitchen was well equipt. There are bathrooms scattered everywhere. And private showers, which are located away from everything (making them very difficult to find). The wifi was very quick, except for one day when it broke. The only annoying thing about the hostel are the codes to get in. There is one code for the room (that doesn't change) and a code to get into the hostel that changes daily at noon. This is quite annoying. It's also a very social place. I met heaps of people! Despite the annoyances, I'd recommend it.
