Whilst Baron Resort is an older hotel, it is impeccably maintained and spotless throughout. It is a smaller hotel, (a good thing but us) positioned between Baron Palms and a new Baron hotel currently under construction. But there was no disturbance from that. We had room 377 - top floor, amazing views and although the shower-room was dated it was perfectly serviceable. It seemed a long way from reception, but there is an external door 3 rooms down, leading to the adults sea water pool, and then down into the impeccably maintained gardens and pool area. We had dressing gowns and complimentary flip flops! There was a good fridge in the room, which was restocked daily, along with tea and coffee making facilities. There is a walkway between the hotel and beach which provided somewhere to stroll without going out of the front of the hotel. In between this hotel and Baron Palms there is a ‘street’ of typical Egyptian shops. The views over to Tiran island are breathtaking. Lovely afternoon vibe at the beach bar - sax player one afternoon. Food was average - the main restaurant was more like a dining hall, but at least they didn’t use a trolley to clear away tables!! There was always something that was ok to eat, but it was a functional rather than a relaxed dining experience. Having said that the a la carte restaurants were a lot better, though mixed reviews from guests there at the same time. In our opinion the Indian was the best, followed by the Italian. Not so keen on the Egyptian - that was an experience, and the pool bar was a little hit and miss but generally the food was good there. The drinks were pretty much your average all inclusive drinks, no Baileys, Prosecco etc and the mixers were more often flat. The rose wine was debatable, but by the end of the week you got a taste for it! Ho. wever the lager was cold and plentiful! The staff were impeccably dressed and very polite and kind. really good ambassadors for the hotel group Top tips: Get a private taxi from the airport Take a 4 gang socket, plus multi charger for phones etc as there wasn’t 1 spare socket in the room. If you’re partial to a particular drink, pick it up at duty free, or pack if you have room! Don’t bother with the cocktails! A la cartes can only be booked 3 days in advance and the app booking system didn’t always work and not always accurate! Book via the concierge. Eat outside at the main restaurant for breakfast and lunch - though always leave someone at your table to keep the birds away! If you do a snorkelling trip, an hour is enough - we did 2 hours but the first hour was by far the best and the guided snorkelling was excellent. Use the laundry service. If you are premium all inclusive, you get it free once a week. It comes back all packaged up ready to go into your suitcase! And it smells divine! Overall great for a fly and flop holiday - would we go back - probably!
