Hotel Pelican

Excellent facility, elevator, balconies, pool, awnings, AC, TV and WiFi. Very clean and well maintained. Kitchenette, Excellent friendly staff, good breakfast. Walk to lively Beach and local restaurants. Good for sunsets. Walk to City Market store for groceries and goods. Mosquitos.

We stayed at the l’Hôtel Pelican in February for 6 days. It is an extremely clean small hotel with very friendly and helpful people at reception. Our room faced west so we got to see the sunset over the Caribbean Sea every night. The neighbourhood is very family oriented with several restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood. I have to eat gluten free and I had no problem finding choices. We especially liked The Wanted Food. For our first morning, we ordered each a breakfast. There is no restaurant on site so it comes catered. Our breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. The little kitchenette is on the balcony with full amenities. Before leaving home, we had booked a rental car, which is the only way to get around Martinique as it is very mountainous. The hotel gives you information on who to book with, if you specifically send them an email. One place we especially loved was Ste-Anne on the south east coast. They have a small but well supplied market. I wanted to get some local spices and didn’t want to go into Fort-de-France because it was Mardi Gras with tons of people. I bought lots of wonderfully smelling spices and locally made mixed drinks to drink back at our room. Le Village de la Poterie on the south side of the Baie de Fort-de-France was a really nice half day. We had an affordable lunch at a restaurant there that looks like a big gazebo, eating outside in the breeze. We then drove around the peninsula. This part of Martinique is more touristy. The beach Les Salines is beautiful. Very long with soft white sand. Lots of restaurants and boutiques just off the beach but you would never know it because they don’t play loud music. Really relaxing. Even though the restaurant signs say they close at 6 pm, they were all packing up at 4pm.

Un établissement plein de charme, cosy. Une vue à couper le souffle des chambres (35), l'impression de voler sur la mer . Une piscine très agréable . Un personnel au petit soin pour ses clients. Je recommande à 200% cet endroit. La plage toute proche. Le seul défaut c'est qu'il n'y a pas de restaurant sur place mais il y en a beaucoup juste à côté.
