Hotel California Garden

Was here for 3 nights to do Portaventura. (+) Based on the price of the food and accommodation exceeded my expectations. Very British in the sun food, which was fine. (+) Location was great for the theme park(20 min walk) and other places to eat/drink close by. (-)Room rather dated (-)A lot of electric scooters in the dining area. Did the job fine. Would stay here again. Never used to pools as it was too cold.

The hotel and rooms were spotless.all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day the towels were also changed every day and the beds were made up every day. There is a large selection of drinks in the bar and a variety of food types in the restaurant

Wouldn’t recommend for families. Should defiantly be an adults only hotel. We have just returned from this hotel, as a family of 7, we only booked a few days before and the price was good and the hotel looked nice in the pictures but these are defiantly dated. One of the family members is disabled so I added notes to the booking to say we needed assistance in the airport and a walk in shower and she is unable to climb over the bath, assistance is the airport was brilliant but upon arrival at the hotel they claimed they didn’t have any notes in regards to disabled room, she offered to swap rooms but then decided there was a €60 charge for this we paid this and spoke to the TUI rep, she said she would email me a complaints form but never did. My nan was then put on the 6th floor (great place for a disabled lady with limited walking) 3 lifts for the hotel which was very small and slow, full with a wheel chair so needing to wait for another to fit two prams into. We booked half board and I have genuinely never seen or tasted such an awful food selection. Breakfast was a very limited selection toast was the only thing edible from it all, tea was awful, nothing for the children. Fish every evening, undercooked burgers not much selection, not to mention the queue for the restaurant I have never seen anything like it, people pushing and shoving to get in would need to queue 30 mins before to get a table. We needed table for 7 and several times people would try and sit on the empty seats whilst other family members was looking at food, a lot of Spanish people who was very rude. Not as many sun beds as there should be for a hotel or this size, I’d hate to stay here during busy season, umbrellas only go up to one height can’t lower them to cover kids etc. Snack bar was not serving food for 3/4 days out of the 7 we were there only had 1/2 ice creams to choose from. We asked about the fridge in the room and was told it was €2 per day to rent sorry what? Rent a fridge never have I ever been charged to rent a fridge. The towels was tiny literally just fit around the kids, beds changed once in a week even though little one spilt juice all over the sheets these was literally turned over and re made, the cleanliness wasn’t great of this hotel. Entertainment said it was on 3/4 nights per week but there was only one on. The hotels location is very good but I’d recommend self catering defiantly not half board. The reception staff and waiting staff were rude, unhelpful and arrogant. The gentleman (older guy) who worked the bar was really nice and helpful though. My review so far t
