Hotel California Garden

Booked a 4 night stay on the hotels website in a refurbished room with breakfast. We arrived early, before check in time and our room was ready which was a nice bonus. The room was bright, clean with a good size balcony. The wardrobe is open and no draws but plenty of shelves. Our fridge was open and no additional charge. We did not use the safe and the air conditioning was set to 19 degrees and you just switched this on/off on the wall - it was perfect temperature for us. The bathroom was lovely, very modern with a really good shower and nice body wash with good lighting and a hairdryer. The beds were very comfortable we slept well for the time we were there. House keeping was brilliant, always a morning when we went past and clean towels daily. Breakfast was fine for us as we only do eggs and toast but nice coffee machine, the restaurant area is modern and was clean. The pools are lovely although a bit cold 🥶 there was plenty of loungers and chairs and an outside pool bar, The prices were very reasonable for a hotel. The indoor bar area is lovely with pool tables and plenty of seats and seating outside. There is a luggage storage room, ask reception for a pass. The location is fabulous, 5ish minutes walk to beach and loads of restaurants around and supermarket over the road. I have read a lot of negative reviews but in my opinion this is a good 3* hotel in a great location which has been majority refurbished and is very inviting. If returning to Salou I would definitely look to stay here again ☀️

I stayed at the California Garden Hotel in May 2025 and found the property to be well-maintained, with clean facilities and friendly, welcoming staff. The hotel was presented to a high standard, and the amenities met expectations. I stayed in a Superior Room, which featured two single beds that could be configured separately or together. The room had a straightforward layout, including a walk-in shower and optional use of a mini-fridge and safe. Our balcony overlooked the pool area, offering pleasant views and ample sunlight during the late afternoon hours. Areas for Improvement: Noise Levels: One significant drawback was the noise disturbance from the nearby Flash Nightclub. Rooms facing the pool are directly impacted by music and noise from patrons exiting the venue, particularly between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Despite using earplugs, sleep was severely disrupted on multiple nights. Guests seeking a quiet stay may wish to request rooms on the opposite side of the property. Room Amenities: There was no kettle provided in the room, which could be a small but meaningful addition for guest convenience. Entertainment: The hotel’s entertainment offerings were limited during our stay. While it may have been due to the off-season timing, this aspect did not meet expectations. Reception Area: The reception area would benefit from the addition of comfortable seating. A quiet, relaxed space—particularly suited for older guests—would offer a welcome alternative to the main bar.

Went 7 May to celebrate my 70th Birthday. Hotel pictures lovely and some good reviews. The hotel reception bar and pool area lovely which seemed recently refurbihsed. However rooms small no drawers at all. Very slim dresser squeeze to get past bed. Very small bedside tables no drawers. In fact no drawers in rooms. Hanging space and shelves Fridge in room but you have to pay 2 euro a day and a cleaner has to unlock. This took a full day to get done.Needed for meds. Ridiculous to have to pay for a fridge which is already in room. BE AWARE our key unlocked someone elses room doors down do not leave valuables out pay for safe 38 euros 10 euro back end of stay. no airer on balcony so no where to dry clothes or towels. First night half board and a very rude and arrogant older man again not english speaking on duty said we were not down for meals and flayed his hands and made us leave restaurant. Never in my life has this happened. Went to reception who said we had had lucnh, really we not arrived in time for lunch. Backto restaurant young girl non english speaking rude and after taking a call from receiption let us in for food. To be honest it was not worth our while the food is not good. Also they do not serve dinner until7.30pm which in my opinion is way too late espcially with kids. We spoke with jet2 rep got dinner changed to lunch and still a drama with some staff why we were having lunch. Credit to Restaurant Manager Naima who was excellent and pleasant. As for the rest of the staff very rude. Restaurant was large but they closed all but one part of it take it staffing issues but it made it difficult with so many teens and there was a party of disabled people several in wheelchairs again causing issues for them. they once opened the area to give them more room Bar staff again not great except Petetk who was lovely and helpful asset to hotel and one young guy. t.Entertainment non existent one night at 11pm shocking. They singers were good but on too late. nothing for kids. no kids disco as advetised bingo no sure if that hapened or not. Receiption girl when asked when entertainment was on she said it was I said that is backgrond music shrugged. So if you enjoy spending time in hotel bar dont bother. Beautiful refurb wasted as no one in it. 3 bar staff serving no one. Receiption staff rude and arrogant not customer friendly at all. Would not return. Finally if you want a couples and family hotel which it is advised as be aware we had 3 coach loads of football teams 2 coaches spanish 15yr olds and 1 Irish team with a parent each. approx 80 in total Not what I call a couples and family hotel. Trying to get into lift a nightmare with so many teens going up and down them all the time We are not able to climb stairs they are. Again felt this was like a triple hen party noisy and not suitable for families. I would not recommend or return. Complaint into Jet 2.
