Mara Engai Wilderness Lodge

My trip to Mara Engai last weekend for my gal’s 50th birthday was nothing short of spectacular! From the thrilling game drives with our Maasai driver, Daniel—who had an incredible ability to spot the lion king of the jungle at different locations—to the breathtaking accommodations, everything was outstanding. I absolutely loved the spacious rooms and the rocky shower design. The antique decor, crafted from natural stones, beautifully reflected the jungle atmosphere, making the indoors feel just as magical as the outdoors. The staff’s service was exceptional—they made every moment feel like home. As a foodie, I was blown away by the chef’s unique and sumptuous dishes. When I find a new recipe I love, it means the chef has truly earned an A+ in my book! Another highlight was the dining experience—every meal was served in a different location, each with a fresh and stunning view, making every moment feel special. And to top it all off, the rum cake for the birthday gal was the perfect finishing touch! For alcohol lovers, it was beautifully soaked—one bite and you could feel it go straight to your head! I would highly recommend Mara Engai any day as the perfect home away from home for family and friends.

The rooms are clean with really good quality toiletries. My cottage had the best view ever. Food is super good, very fresh and really tasty. The sundowner was something else. I recommend it 100%. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Super

The attentive staff ensured that dining was not just a meal but an experience to remember. The game drives were the highlight of our trip. Led by expert guide Daniel, we witnessed nature in its rawest form—majestic lions on the prowl, towering elephants gracefully moving through the plains, and herds of zebras blending seamlessly into the landscape. The thrill of spotting wildlife up close was unparalleled, and each drive brought new surprises. Beyond the safari, the hospitality was outstanding. The team went above and beyond to make us feel at home, ensuring our stay was as comfortable as it was adventurous. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, Mara Engai offers an unforgettable escape into nature’s wonders. Highly recommended!

The views, the service, the ambience is amazing. I had an awesome time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Our driver Daniel was one of the best I have experienced. He took us up and close to the lions. Serendipity in spades.

Had the most amazing time here. Location is a little out so we stayed on the game drive for lunch as couldn't get back easily. A special vehicle helps you get up to the lodge. The views up there are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms were amazing we couldn't believe they were tents. The food was also very good plenty of options. Finally the service as always in this beautiful country was second to none. You can't beat the Kenyan hospitality. Would highly recommend this place

Sited high on a ridge overlooking the Masai Mara plains you really get a feel of wilderness. The main lodge has an amazing deck area to watch sunrises on and meals are eaten just inside with the same view. Access is up an incredibly steep track on specialised 4-wheel vehicles you have to transfer onto, but the drive is amazing. Our tent was surrounded by the bush, so didn't have a view, but wow what a tent. Actually tent is a misnomer, as although the sides and roof from inside are fabric, there is a solid roof over the whole assembly. The floor area was bigger than our house, with wonderful wood floors. We had three beds to choose from, so this tent could easily accommodate a family. Behind a raised solid adobe-style wall there is a wide area containing a double sink, and two widely separate walk in shower and toilet areas. The shower was a waterfall rather than a spray head, and temperatures were tricky to control, but overall very functional. Toilet is a standard western style flush, so you'll have no issues there. All staff were super friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful and nicely varied. Other facilities include a swimming pool, which we didn't visit. WiFi is only available in the main lodge, and could be glitchy, but is not available at the tents. The one twist, is that since there are and could be wild animals visiting the camp, you need an escort to and from the main lodge and your tent.
