Belle Epoque Residence

Great accommodation in a beautiful building. We had a studio apartment in the outbuilding. Spotless and had everything we needed. Very spacious and quiet. Lovely warm temperature which was much appreciated as it was -5 outside! Hadn’t realised it had single beds but they were comfy. Next door is a very handy shop which is open from early to late. Close enough to the centre - 10mins walk - but nice to be in a quiet residential area. The reception is not manned 24 hours. But the automatic check in process is effectiently organised in advance. Would definitely recommend staying here.

My wife and I stopped here last week on our first trip to Poland. On entering the property everything was clean and welcoming. The staff were very welcoming and helped us with any problems we had regarding getting around and things to see. The room was open and well decked out. I wasn't too sure what to expect (wife booked it) but I was very pleasantly surprised. All furnishings and fittings were clean and well maintained. Would I go back here, 100%. I would recommend this place to anyone coming here, and being in close proximity to the town centre is a massive advantage. Fantastic.

Belle Epoque is located about 10 minutes walk from the Old Town in a quiet neighbourhood. The apartment we stayed in was large, modern and clean, but there were several things that stopped me giving it 5 stars. When we arrived the door was locked and we needed to ring a phone number on the door in order to speak to someone and gain entry. When we did, our keys were sat on the reception desk, along with someone else’s. Fortunately Krakow seems to be quite low-crime. The room safe was open with the bolt in the locked position, so the safe wouldn’t close or lock. I reported this the next morning but nothing was done about this during our stay. There were 4 coat hooks by the door, but 2 of these had been snapped off and not replaced. And the TV in the bedroom didn’t work. Not too big a problem as there was a working TV in the living room. Would I go back? It would probably depend on the price compared to other options.

Beautiful apartment in very grand, recently restored building. Super spacious twin room with kitchen area & well equipped bathroom with great shower. Staff were very friendly & helpful throughout our 4 night stay. The breakfasts were very generous with selection of cold meats, cheeses, fruit salad, bread, butter, freshly cut vegetables, vegetable salad & hard boiled eggs all beautifully prepared & packed. The crate with all of this was delivered each morning about 8am & left outside our room. It was very quiet (with windows closed) at night. Our room overlooked the street with some traffic noise but not too disturbing. The location is only 10 minutes walk from the main square making it an ideal base. As a bonus there is a small supermarket just outside the entrance with a good assortment of supplies for self catering.

Pre-arrival communication was good, with clear details for self-check in. The next day I reported a faulty bulb to the young lady receptionist, who didn't seem particularly interested. Later the same day I politely mentioned it again. She was rather brisk and said she had no access to replacement bulbs, but that maintenance had been informed and it would be fixed the following day. She rather passive aggressively pointed out that there were other lights in the apartment. The faulty bulb belonged to the floor lamp, so the choice of lighting was either stark overhead multi-bulb chandelier or total darkness. The bulb was never replaced during our stay. Maintenance in general could be improved, but the apartment was very clean. The hand shower bracket was loose and floppy, so the shower head was sagging and unusable. I fixed it myself - it only needed a screw tightening which should have been noticed in advance. The shower water pressure and temperature were good. The bed was ok but very firm and I don't believe a mattress protector was in place. The pillows were just awful - floppy and thin. I can't understand why microwave ovens are not supplied as standard. There was a smokers' table directly under our balcony, so cigarette smoke drifted into the apartment whenever it was in use. It could have been moved to a more neutral location. The reception staff on duty never once looked up or smiled as we were passing, and only responded with a curt 'hello' when spoken to. Overall an ok stay, but it could have been much more welcoming in all respects. We won't be returning.

Close to the Old Town, shop below, great location for everywhere nearby. Room VERY clean and spacious. A lot of knocking (thinking pipe work in the morning) from above, which was annoying as it woke us all up. Otherwise great stay. Would consider staying again due to location.
