Villa Kalista

We booked this villa for 18 of us on self catering basis. We had told Faiza the owner that we will be cooking and that we will need a chef to cook. That means we shall be doing a self catering holiday. On arrival the manager Robert didn’t have a chef and told us we were meant to bring our own chef. Faiza then said the chef was not well. But next day a chef was organised for us but we had to help him all the days as he couldn’t cop himself cooking for us especially when the kitchen facilities were really run down. The oven was dirty, tap broken, gas cooker wasn’t working. The drawers broken. The utensils were absolutely disgraceful and really old. Thank God we brought our own utensils which was a saviour. Faiza then mentioned to us that no one comes here on self catering basis. But then why have kitchen facilities in the villa. They were told before hand that we will be cooking. Despite this the villa kitchen wasn’t prepared. None of the fridges worked and stuff we bought had gone off due to this. 6 litres of our milk had gone off. Every day someone would come and fix the fridge and nothing worked until the day we left. If a fridge doesn’t work in hot weather, you can imagine how that impacted our stay. The water wasn’t cold either. The rooms were good and staff were helpful. But overall we were disappointed with the kitchen and fridge facilities considering we were charged a huge amount equivalent to five star stay but the facilities were worse than 3 star stay.

By far one of the best escapes in Kenya. The food was excellent and was cooked perfectly. The service was wonderful, attentive and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect. Highly recommended for those looking for the perfect location with excellent service.

We took two of the villas and we were a group of 9 people. The Villa was huge and very spacious with beautiful grounds. We we’re welcome by Nik who manages the place and then gave us a long introduction of the place. The villa we were in wasnt fully ready so we had to wait for some time. The beach and sea is very rocky but the pool was nice. Food was average and can do with some improvements. Nik kept popping in announced all the time which wasn’t very comforting. Otherwise he catered to our needs. Salma and her team were exceptional. The Spa team were wonderful with massages and pedicures.
