Hotel Ilios

We were honestly very pleasantly surprised by our stay! My boyfriend and I were a little unsure what to expect after reading some of the not-so-great reviews, but our experience was actually much better than we expected. The hotel exceeded our expectations in several ways, and we felt that it offered very good value for money. Location was great, close to the beach, restaurants and shops, we had a supermarket in a 5-minute walk. The rooms were clean, they would clean it every two days, the staff was also very nice especially the lady on the reception. Food was solid, breakfast was mostly the same everyday, but dinner was much better and the portions were huge. We’re really glad we decided to come despite some of the negative reviews. Our experience was positive, and we would happily stay here again.

Let's bust a few myths about this lovely hotel. Yes, it is all inclusive - but rather than try and make lots of mediocre dishes, they make one choice per meal, very well, augmented by an excellent salad bar and occasional breakfast bonuses like sausages and omelette- still, fussy kids ate everything. The drinks are indeed from Lidl but they're fine. Snacks are all paid for. It's a budget hotel - be realistic, its just not a "pile it high and throw half of it away" type of all inclusive. The rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. We asked for quiet rooms and had a very peaceful stay. They're not all mod cons, but the beds are comfy and there's a wet room shower. Nice balcony, but mostly looking at other balconies! Now let's be clear - the Aircon is extra (7 Euros/night) and you will want it. You can also hire a fan or even just buy a fan and leave it behind - but do the maths - even with Aircon hire it's a bargain hotel. The pool is lovely. It's not huge, but it's got gorgeous views, a shower, and the water is warm and clean. The staff make this place - they'll treat you like family, and although it's not a five star hotel, you'll get five star hospitality from people who are genuinely glad you're there and want you to have a great stay. Finally, on your last day, despite some reports on here, we had free run of the hotel, the pool, the food and drinks right until our pick up came, and they were quite shocked that someone had suggested otherwise. It's located close to the strip and beach but not too close, it's near shops including a great supermarket (try their daily fresh orange juice, it's stunning), and if you don't expect something for nothing, you'll be delighted with Ilios - it's a great find.

On arrival check in was good went to my room very outdated furniture Was suppose to be all inclusive Breakfast was a Buffet menu which consisted of Tomatoes Cucumber Ham Feta cheese olives cereal Yogurt Bread and Jam Lunch was buffet style starter same as breakfast You have to go to your table with your room number and then your given 1 set meal no options And the same for dinner No snacks through out the day only crisps of which you have to pay for Aircon is payable at a rate of 7 Euros per day Overall staff are lovely and 1 in particula the blond dutch lady on reception who went above and beyond on my departure as my transfer back to the Airport never arrived she did her best and got me a taxi

DONT GO THERE All inclusive isn't all inclusive its more like full board with very limited drinks available food is very limited breakfast is limited same every day food is almost inedible no choice and such poor quality or holiday resulted in eating out every dinner and tea although the staff are fantastic rooms are basic but cleaned every day pool is nice drinks available at pool bar lager from cans into plastic cups we were allowed to bring our own mixers as only pop from lidl was supplied I personally would not recommend going with children no snacks or food for children but each to there own

I took my 16 year old granddaughter for a week to this hotel. Staff were friendly , nothing was too much trouble for them! Hotel is clean and rooms are cleaned every other day. The only negative would be the "all inclusive" is not what I am used to. Continental breakfast every day with either boiled egg, fried or omelette on different days. Lunch and dinner are set meals, no choice of anything different. This didn't bother me as what was presented to us was nice food but my granddaughter is a very fussy eater so this wasn't ideal for her, therefore had to go out to get her something alternative to eat on most days. Pool area is lovely and clean, plenty of sun loungers for everyone. Nancy the bar lady, lovely, friendly and chatty. There are signs for a snack bar to the pool area although no snacks are available. I would return to this hotel but not with a fussy eater.

We stayed for a week with my partner and little baby. It was really lovely experience. Place is nice, rooms clean and cosy with balconies, the center of the city, but not in the middle of the parties, so also quite. Really nice pool at the terrace with good view. The food at the restaurant is delicious, the choice in buffet of starters and of breakfast is not too big, which is even better, everything is fresh and nice, always greek food. Is written that main dishes can't be replaced, but I was calling before booking and they were very kind to organise also vegetarian option for me. The only point for the restaurant - would be nice to have more fruits and sweets. And of course the best part of the hotel - people. Everyone is super kind and lovely, we felt ourselves welcomed by everyone, and everyone was very nice to the baby and even gave her a nickname. So wanted to thank all the staff from the hotel, the reception, pool bar, waiters, cleaning ladies and the kitchen already missing Crete and considering same hotel for the next year.

Reception was very basic and dark, room is very outdated and colour scheme is dark. Bathroom could do with a revamp. I went all inclusive? Well that’s what I paid for but you don’t have a selection on what you eat. It’s sit down and wait for your food. Like it or lump it. Drinks are the same there’s no bar downstairs you have to ask the receptionist you’re order and it’s limited to what’s on offer and beer is poured from cans and if half way through pouring your drink and can runs out they open another one and use that. There’s no snacks or buffets. Rooftop pool is stunning,quiet and enough sunbeds for everyone. The only downside is the pool shack is really limited to your drinks it’s beer (poured out of a can) or vodka with coke,lemonade or cheap Fanta lemon. No snacks at all from the bar but there’s a vending machine with all the snacks? Yes you have to pay for them. So really I’ve basically paid for an all inclusive holiday but really its full board. Location though is brilliant as 5 minutes to beach,restaurants and bars which close at 12am , across the street is a supermarket with everything you’ll need

Small, cosy, and quite hotel with friendly staff. Room was small, 2 twin beds, dated and basic. Bed was confy, bedding really good. Shower really small/narrow, better curtains should be in place and shower is not fit for the head holder. Room and hotel itself were clean. Maid's changed just towels, no rubbish taken away some reason. Aircon is 7 eur extra per stay, fridge is free to use. Pool area was nice and with good loungers, but there is no extra parasoles, only two areas with permanent shades. Also, they have no pool area for the kids. Bar drinks in AL basis were ok, but snacks with a charge. They offer paid drinks at pool bar and downstairs along with snacks, prices were ok. Restaurant serves basic breakfast in buffet style, lunch and dinner served to the table and it is what they are making for the day with no choice. They have extra salad bar as well. I'm fussy, but all they served was mainly ok,but pretty large portions. Till 11 am to 7 pm you can get your drinks from the pool bar, in the evenings from reciption until 10pm. Beach, shops, bars, restaurants are in very short distance. They have no luggage room in case you are not leaving after check out, they can be sotored in communal area, but bags with valuables can be handed over to reciption. Overall nice and friendly hotel and I would go again even if it's basic. Next time I would go to room only or B&B basis.

**Das schlechteste Hotel, in dem ich je war – maximal ein Stern** Wir waren acht Tage all-inclusive in diesem Hotel. Was einem dafür geboten wird, ist meiner Meinung nach eine reine Abzocke. Das Hotel Ilios hat meiner Ansicht nach nicht einmal einen Stern verdient. Die Einrichtung der Zimmer ist völlig veraltet und in einem sehr schlechten Zustand. Besonders das Badezimmer war unterirdisch: Die Armaturen waren ekelig und keineswegs zeitgemäß. Für den Safe und die Klimaanlage mussten wir zusätzlich jeweils 7 € pro Tag bezahlen. Immerhin gab es einen kleinen Kühlschrank im Zimmer, für den keine weiteren Kosten anfielen. Unser Urlaub war letztendlich trotzdem einigermaßen schön, da wir uns ohnehin nur zum Schlafen im Hotel aufgehalten haben. Das ändert jedoch nichts daran, dass ich dieses Hotel keinesfalls empfehlen kann. Auch das Essen war eine große Enttäuschung. Das Frühstück war äußerst einfach und bot keinerlei Abwechslung. Es gab Toast, vertrocknetes Baguette, nur eine Sorte Käse – Feta –, eine Sorte Wurst, kaltes Spiegelei sowie Tomaten und Gurken. Das wurde als Salatbuffet angepriesen. Ein Dressing oder Olivenöl suchte man vergeblich. Andere Urlauber hatten sich bereits selbst Käse und Aufschnitt im Supermarkt gekauft. Wir sind wirklich nicht besonders pingelig, aber Frühstück, Mittag- und Abendessen waren einfach eine Katastrophe. Mit „all-inclusive“ hat das meiner Meinung nach nichts zu tun. Auch die Essenszeiten am Abend waren unglaublich kurz. Zwischen 19:00 und 20:00 Uhr konnte man sich zunächst einen Salat zusammenstellen – jeden Tag dasselbe: Tomaten, Gurken und Paprika. Anschließend wurde einem das Tagesgericht an den Tisch gebracht. Dieses wurde lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht, ganz nach dem Motto: „Friss oder stirb.“ Ich kann nur jedem davon abraten, dieses Hotel zu buchen. Der Reiseveranstalter TUI sollte sein all-inclusive-Angebot dringend überprüfen. Über die vielen weiteren negativen Eindrücke könnte ich noch lange weiterschreiben.
