Palazzo Daniele, a Member Design Hotels

Lovely lodging in an authentic little town off the beaten path. The building is beautiful and well-maintained. The pool is wonderful. Our bed was comfortable and our room was clean and quiet. My wife and I ate breakfast and dinner at the inn. Delicious. We sat and drank wine in the kitchen and chatted with the chef while our dinner was being prepared. The staff was kind and attentive. Palazzo Daniele is certainly not a chain hotel, but for those looking for a unique, well-run lodging in southern Italy, I highly recommend it.

I am amazed by these rave reviews. Palazzo Daniele is a once-beautiful historic building that has been allowed to deteriorate, has been the subject of only cursory restoration, and is still in dire need of basic maintenance and repair. It’s beyond me why your reviewers seem to think that crumbling plasterwork, flaking paint, rusting ironwork and meals served in chipped crockery, not to mention guest accommodation and appointments that make Premier Inns look like five star luxury, deserve such acclaim. And all charged for at eye wateringly expensive rates. Phrases used by your reviewers such as "a truly unique concept of style, beauty and historical values" and "a truly marvellous experience" make me wonder if they were at the same place that I was. And as for the smug and pretentious claim of one of your reviewers that those guests who may share my opinions "don't get the concept", I'd suggest that that is classic case of the Emperor’s New Clothes - that particular person seems to be oblivious to the place's blindingly obvious shortcomings. Its only saving grace is its staff - without exception lovely people, mostly young, attentive, intelligent and helpful. All a delight to deal with. One can only hope that they don’t realise that they are participants in a charade - the pretence being that this shabby pile is somehow a top quality boutique hotel.

This hotel was a special place to stay. Every corner you turn was stunning and photo worthy. The staff made you feel like you were coming back home while still making you feel like a special guest. Delicious food, comfortable bed, lovely linens, good location, amazing cocktails .... cannot say enough good about this place! I hope to be back someday.

This place was a dream. Quirky from the moment you ducked your head through the vintage door and stepped into the courtyard you know it’s like no normal hotel. Staff were amazing. Rooms were exceptionally generous. Beautiful grounds to explore and fun local town centre outside that came to life at night. Food was sensational thanks to the ladies in the kitchen - we loved our cooking class and massages - everything was spot on. This place is not a buzzing town but a laid back community with Beaches to explore and sensational biking tours. Wonderful base to explore puglia

I had the pleasure of spending two nights at the Palazzo Daniele and it was a truly marvellous experience, with memories to last a lifetime. When you read the reviews you will notice that a few guests sadly just don’t get the concept….. The palazzo is a home not a hotel. The waiters and waitresses are not the staff, they engage with you to help you enjoy your stay. They are returning locals and have been carefully hand picked for their international experience and their ability to relate to & communicate with the guests. The cooks in the kitchen are “mama” and will cook what you want with the local ingredients to hand and everything is absolutely delicious, hence no menus. There are no TVs, irons and ironing boards, Nespresso machines and fridges in the room. The furnishings are minimal to allow one to focus on the amazing architecture. The renovation of the owner’s ancestral home is light touch, truly preserving the original and retaining the soul rather than rebuilding afresh. Don’t get me wrong, everything is clean and works especially the amazing shower in the 6m vaulted bathroom of the Royal Junior Suite that I stayed in So enjoy your stay and the company of your hosts but do not mistake the lack of “box fresh perfection” as a sign of not knowing or not caring. The very opposite is true, the owner, designer, manager and hosts all know and care passionately about every detail of the art and history and culture and traditional values. The pictures on the website do truly show this hotel as it is . Beautiful in every way . Spacious , quiet , an oasis of calm . Fantastic public rooms , courtyard , garden and outdoor eating area . Breakfast was perfect , dinner a delight , every member of staff a pleasure to engage with .
