I am an avid traveller to Tanzania in the last 10 years and I rarely complain about hotels I have visited but I need to make an exception here. Villa Dahl boasts itself for being a quaint and luxury boutique hotel with excellent facilities, including an "magnificent soulsoothing pool....an exceptional culinary experience...and high standard delux rooms". This is very far from the truth. Me and my partner are paying $78/night to stay here but this place is no way worth that kind of price. The rooms, albeit clean, have a bed with bedlinnen that has holes in them, an A/C that only has one mode and temperature, has no water bottles for drinking or lacks towels for drying hands. The staff are completely blase and disinterested in serving us, they would rather scroll their smartphones. The breakfast served included 50 shades of brown, i.e toast without butter or jam, an heavily salted omelette without a filling. A cold pancake without topping. No greens, no colour. And then instant coffee to drink. On top of this the restaurant is filled with flies, likely drawn there due to the fish market next door. But our biggest dissapointment about this place is the pool. Completely green and full of algea. The manager said they would have it fixed but 24 hrs later it is still solid green. Swimming there will make people sick, yet they allow day visitors to do it. Stay away from this place, visit Kipepeo Beach Resort down the road instead.
