"I really wanted to give this hotel 5 out of 5, but it’s just not possible. So let me explain… Firstly, let’s start with the positives. The hotel is in a fantastic location. The photo attached is of the view from our room. We had a superior double room on the 6th floor. It was spacious and has everything you need. The double balcony was a fabulous edition, overlooking the marina. If the hotel classed itself as a 3 star hotel then I would have given a 5 out of 5 review as I would have known what to expect. But it classes itself as a 4 star hotel, and charges the prices for it, but it is absolutely not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are worn and in need of a desperate makeover. The bathroom is tiny and again, very worn down. The sink was cracked. The bathroom door didn’t even open fully. The beds were hard. It was like sleeping on bricks. And that’s not an exaggeration. The walls are thin and you can hear everything in the next room. It makes it feel very very noisy. The air conditioning is this horrible little unit in the corner of the room which looks like it’s come back to the future from 1980. There are only two lifts for the entire hotel. Again, very worn down. And there were often queues for the lift. The breakfast buffet is in a small restaurant, which gets very busy. But credit where it’s due, there is a lot of choice at breakfast and the staff are really friendly. This is not a 4 star hotel and shouldn’t charge the amount it does. Like I said, if it was advertised as a 3 star hotel, I would’ve lowered my expectations and perhaps not been so disappointed. But if you’re only interested in location, then this is ideal."

"Super beautiful hotel, nice rooftop pool. Nice roof terrace. Really a 2-minute walk from the beach. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so we didn't really go to the beach. The receptionist at check-in was less than ideal. She tried to push upgrades on us all. I had deliberately booked two separate beds, but she kept saying, "I have a double bed for you for so many euros." There was a popcorn cart in the lobby, but it was really dry and had zero salt. The beach right outside is ideal. Otherwise, very clean and nicely decorated!"

Since we were only informed at very short notice, the cancellation couldn't be processed during the free cancellation period. Neither Trip.com nor El Plantio showed any leniency in this regard. Despite communication with both, they blamed the failure on each other. We've stayed at El Plantio 2-3 times a year over the past few years, but that's now over."

"The rooms are very spacious and decorated in an elegant yet modern style. The beds are extremely comfortable and you can have a peaceful sleep every night. The sea view from the balcony is even more refreshing. Waking up every morning and seeing the boundless ocean is one of the parts I enjoy most. The service at the hotel was impeccable, all staff from the front desk to room service were very friendly and helpful. The few times I needed extra towels and toiletries, they were delivered to the room quickly and with impressive efficiency."

"Loved this hotel. It’s connected to a hotel across the street, where reception and breakfast are located. Service at reception was friendly. Breakfast was tasty and good quality. While the buffet was fairly small, there was still a sufficient selection. The location in the old town was excellent, within a short walking distance of many of Alicante’s main sights. The hotel has a beautiful, well-maintained traditional exterior with modern interiors. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with interiors renovated to a modern standard. We heard some occasional noise from the corridors when other guests were moving around or closing doors, but otherwise the hotel felt quiet and we had a peaceful night’s sleep every night. Housekeeping was done to a good standard. The only slightly odd thing was that the bathroom window opened onto a messy-looking inner courtyard — not sure if this belonged to the hotel, but if so, it would benefit from being tidied up. Overall, I can’t fault our stay."

Cool mirror inside where you can change the colour of led lights. Also fan, socket ans USB chargers. Free shampoo and shower gel in the showers. Free ear plugs. Cool place, we will definitely come there again if we travel to Alicante."
