We stayed at the Kleopatra Life Hotel in Alanya for 5 nights as a couple. The location was definitely a plus — not right in the centre but close enough to walk there easily. The beach just across the road was lovely, clear water with very cheap sun loungers, which made up for the small hotel pool that although not too busy, didn’t have many loungers available. It was nice that drinks were served in glasses rather than plastic cups. The area and hotel itself is dated, and the photos on the website are definitely misleading. It’s old and tired, not at all contemporary, bright and new as the pics suggest. That said, the rooms and hotel were kept clean. The air conditioning and shower worked well, which was positive. Staff were polite, though not particularly interactive. Room cleaning was very inconsistent — our room was only cleaned once during our 5-night stay which was really frustrating. We kept the service light on and mentioned this to the hotel but the housekeeping staff just turned the light off whilst we were out and left it. There are also quite a few hidden extras. Despite being all-inclusive, most drinks besides beer and wine weren’t included. We had to pay for WiFi, although we occasionally picked up a signal from a nearby hotel. There was also no luggage room, so our bags were left out in the open after checkout, which didn’t feel very secure. The food was a huge letdown: repetitive, low in quality, and not very suitable for UK guests. Around 75% of it was the same every day, and it was obvious that some leftovers were reused between meals. There was a sign for a snack bar, but we never saw one. No hotel entertainment was provided, so evenings were pretty dull unless you went out. One Love reggae bar down the road was great. In short, it worked okay as a base, mainly because of the location and the beach. But overall, it could have been a lot better — and we wouldn’t choose to return.
