We chose Anantara Sir Bani Yas for a special occasion – my wife’s birthday – and invited close friends, including a pregnant guest, expecting a serene beach resort experience after a long 3 - hour drive from Dubai, followed by a ferry and shuttle. What we received was the exact opposite. We contacted the resort several times before booking to ensure we were reserving beachfront villas. We were very clear on our expectations – a beach setting, scenic views, and a relaxing island experience. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find our so-called “beach villas” facing a dried-out lake with no water, no sand, and certainly no beach. We then asked about enjoying the sunset – a key part of any island getaway – and were directed to a location 20 minutes away, only to find that the actual beach viewing area was under construction and completely inaccessible. No one had the courtesy or professionalism to communicate this in advance, even after our repeated calls and questions. We felt misled and trapped in an experience that did not remotely match what was sold to us. To put it plainly: this is not a beach resort experience. It is an isolated, misrepresented stay with zero attention to guest communication or expectation management. This trip was meant to be memorable for all the right reasons – instead, it left us disappointed, frustrated, and feeling like we’d wasted time, money, and energy. We’re cutting our weekend to check out early and to make it up for my wife somewhere else.
